The Biergarten is looking for an assistant manager!
£19k/pa, 22 days holiday + pension
The Biergarten is a multi award winning micro pub and bottle shop, based in north Milton Keynes. We specialise in European beers, local ales and the best craft beer from around the world. The shop organises its own beer festivals, events and subscription scheme and is at the forefront of the Milton Keynes beer scene. We also attend external events in our tap van and host private functions at the pub. Our core values are excellent service, a relaxed atmosphere and enthusiasm for the beer we sell.
As an assistant manager there are two parts to your job:
1. You will be pulling pints and preparing non-beer drinks, washing and drying glasses, recommending beer, stocking the shop, tidying the shop and the cellar, tapping new kegs and casks, cleaning the premises at the end of the shift and interacting with suppliers. The work is varied and our customers very friendly.
2. In addition to general bar work, you will also oversee some of the ordering, training and events for the shop. We are looking for a beer enthusiast who is interested in taking as much responsibility as possible over time, and who will look after the shop as if it was their own, with the help of our staff and shareholder family.
We are looking for someone with excellent customer service skills, a passion for beer and ideally craft beer cellar experience. Ideally you have a clean drivers licence and would be interested in attending events with our mobile van. Reliability and quick work pace are a must- the shop gets very busy.
We foresee 37.5h of on-site work a week as part of this position: Tue- Thu 3:30-9:30, Fri 10:30-6 + 7-0 and Sat 6-0. We are flexible to some degree and hours may change over time and as we cover for each other's holiday. Rotas are distributed up to a month in advance, and some evenings will always be off.
A full time, permanent contract of £19k/pa incl 22 holidays and pension contributions will be offered to the right candidate after a month's trial. Until then you will be paid at the normal staff rate of £9.30/h.
We are interested in supporting the right candidate in their progression and training, and it is important to understand that we are a small, independent business: we offer a lovely place to work, community, transparency and a passion for craft. This is your chance to become the guardian of a successful and much-loved community asset.
Please apply below. We look forward to hearing from you.
